The new 2019 Audi Q8 is a luxury SUV that features room for five. Sure, the A8 sedan still costs more, but people are flocking to the SUV lineup in droves. Let’s see what makes this new vehicle so unique.
2019 Audi Q8 Exterior Styling
Compared to the Q7 the 2019 Audi Q8 is three inches shorter and has a roof that is over an inch shorter. It’s also slightly wider which offers a sporty appearance. It features an octagonal grille and comes with optional 22-inch wheels which further add to the effect.
2019 Audi Q8 Powertrain
Underneath the hood, you’ll find the turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 which pushes out 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Its also fitted with a 48-volt hybrid system which smooths the stop/start system. With standard all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission, this Q8 hits 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds.
2019 Audi Q8 Interior
The Q8 features 31-cubic-feet of cargo room in the rear. That’s larger than the German competitors. It also doesn’t feel too cramped despite being smaller than the Q7. The Q8 is the first Audi to feature the company’s brand new infotainment system. This uses two touchscreens and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
What Else is Audi Planning?
Aside from the release of the Q8, Audi has a whole bunch of tricks up its sleeves. There will be new luxury sedans and sports cars coming soon. In fact, they have updated A6, A7 and A8 models planned. The funny thing is that the existing Q7 continues to outsell all three of those models combined, every single month. With that in mind, it seems slightly silly that they continue to invest so much into the car lineup.
While the new Q8 isn’t going to replace passenger cars, it does give them another chance to have a hot seller. It’s a great mixture between the Q7 and their flagship line of vehicles, so it should be interesting to see how drivers respond. Maybe it will end up on our Best Luxury Car of 2019 list.
