While the Lexus RX has been around since 1998, there’s a lot to love about the newest model. This mid-size luxury crossover is based on the Toyota Highlander and features the perfect balance between quality, comfort and performance. Let’s take a closer look at what to expect from the 2020 Lexus RX.
Fourth-Generation Lexus
This newest generation focuses heavily on multimedia and safety. The exterior updates were minimal, but there is a redesigned spindle grille, revised taillights and thinner headlight clusters. Inside the cabin, you see the new paddle shifters, standard NuLuxe leatherette and six USB ports.
The company also added Alexa integration, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to its Lexus Remote Touch interface. Standard equipment includes an 8-inch screen, but you can upgrade to a 12.3-inch if you prefer. Both of these offer touch screen capability and are user-friendly with the voice command function.
To increase comfort, the new RX features thicker rear and front stabilizer bars, performance shock absorbers and retuned dampers. The strengthened anti-roll bars further enhance the ride. With the updated brake-based torque vectoring system, drivers feel an improvement to stability and handling while turning.
With an F Sport model, you gain the Active Variable Suspension, a cold air intake, fine-tuned electric power steering system, active sound control plus a heated steering wheel. These models also come standard with the Sport+ and custom drive modes.
2020 Lexus RX Specifications
If safety is a top priority, you’ll be happy to know that this new SUV features the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0. This includes low-light pedestrian detection, cyclist detection, lane tracing assist and adaptive cruise control.
Models come equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Upgrade to the RX 450h to gain an electric motor with the V6 to produce 308 horsepower. Furthermore, you have the option between a two- or three-row SUV model. We expect to see the newest Lexus SUV during the third quarter of 2019.
