Ford and Avis are teaming up to provide easier access for customers that want to rent cars. By the summer of 2019, the two companies plan to have over 35,000 Ford vehicles available for digital connection.
Ford and Avis Partnership
Ford has been busy planning out some new partnerships as we shared with the Ford and Volkswagen announcement. This one is slightly different and benefits rental car customers. The goal of Ford and Avis working together is to improve efficiency and make things easier.
By connecting vehicles, Avis allows customers to manage their entire rental through a mobile app. This allows them to choose which vehicle they want and even extend the duration with the touch of a button. Returning the rental vehicle is just as easy with the technology, making the drop-off process even simpler.
The connected Fords offer telemetry data which includes the fuel level, vehicle condition and odometer. This allows Avis fleet managers to process the information quickly to prepare more vehicles for customers.
It is going to take some time until all the pieces begin to work together. By the end of this year, Ford hopes to have 10,000 of their vehicles connected. Then, by the first half of 2019, they anticipate another 25,000 cars to come online. By the end of 2020, it’s projected that the entire fleet will be fully connected.
Avis Participation
Currently, Avis offers numerous Ford vehicles to renters. These include the Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus, Ford Mustang convertible, Ford Escape, Ford Expedition, Ford Edge, the F-150 and Transit. This extensive selection makes up most of the lineup, although they do offer some other brands. Some of these include Chevrolet, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Jeep, Cadillac and Toyota.
Does this news of a further Ford and Avis partnership encourage you to use this rental company more for future travel plans? Are you excited at the ease of renting and dropping off these connected rental cars?
