Before you laugh, Fuell is indeed the name of a new company. Yes, it is for electric bikes, which seems sort of ironic considering the new name. The truth is that Erik Buell partnered with Sauber principle and owner of Spark Racing Technology to launch the Fuell eBike. Frédéric Vasseur also enlisted Francois-Xavier Terny to help produce the brand-new Fuell eBike model.

Who is Erik Buell?

You’ve probably heard the name before and once I tell you, you will likely hit yourself in the head. Buell is a former Harley engineer. He founded Buell, his own motorcycle company back in 1983. Then, he sold all the controlling interest in the company to Harley in 1993. Later, Harley consumed the company in 2003. By 2009, the company died. Since then, Erik Buell Racing has produced some race-only 1125-series Buell bikes.

What is Fuell?

Fuell is a name you are likely to hear shortly. It’s going to be a top player in the electric bike industry. Buell consistently shows exceptional engineering skills in relation to two-wheeled vehicles. Pair that with Vasseur who has a complete understanding of electric propulsion, and it’s a winning match.

We think that they will be able to put something remarkable together. This new company has two products to showcase at launch. They have both been designed and manufactured from the ground up. The first bike is referred to as the Fluid. It’s an electric-assist bicycle. The second is the Flow which is an EV motorcycle.

Fuell Fluid

The Fluid will launch later in the year with an MSRP of $3,295. It features two onboard swappable batteries and runs up to 125 miles on a charge. Plus, it only takes 30 minutes to achieve a full charge when using a public charger.

Believe it or not, you can buy the bike with a 20 mph top speed or 28 mph if you prefer.

Fuell eBike: Flow

The second model is the Flow, a Fuell eBike. It will feature two varying power levels and a proprietary wheel motor. You can choose from an 11kW model which pumps out 15 horsepower or the 35kW with 47 horsepower.

Because the bike looks futuristic, it might not appeal to everyone. With that said, it’s quite lightweight and aerodynamic. Fuell also assures customers that it plans to offer customizable bikes. Riders can choose from upgraded chargers, batteries and motors.

While we will see the Fluid this year, we won’t get our hands on the Flow until 2021. On top of that, the intrigue is high since there’s very little information provided by the company yet.

They will have some competition as more companies produce electric bikes. We’ve already reported on the VW Cargo e-Bike and the new GM bike.
