Jaguar E-Pace Chequered Flag Edition Debuts

Jaguar recently debuted the newest special edition E-Pace SUV. The Jaguar E-Pace Chequered Flag Edition is the latest variant and stems from the range-topping R-Dynamic model. The automaker adds some styling and performance enhancements to the SUV which also comes with a unique color scheme. Starting prices are $53k and we’ve got the latest details for you.

This special edition SUV comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, an exclusive set of tread plates, four select color choices and the Chequered Flag badges. It also features twin tailpipes, a sports body kit, a Black Exterior Pack, like the one on the E-Pace R-Dynamic and LED headlights.

Inside the SUV you will find the R-Dynamic sports steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, heated front seats, black shift paddles, a 10-inch infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Aside from that, buyers have the option between four engines with the Jaguar E-Pace Chequered Flag. This includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine which produces 148 or 178 horsepower. All of the engines come paired with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The gas options include a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with two tune states. The first produces 197 horsepower and the second pumps out 246 horsepower. Still, both of these also come with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic.

The E-Pace Chequered Flag also comes with the Adaptive Dynamics system to improve ride comfort and handling. Optional extras include Matrix LED headlights, a load-space partition net plus a new pet-pack.

2019 Jaguar I-Pace Electric SUV: First Look

Up until now, there just wasn’t that many all-electric SUVs or trucks to talk about, but that’s about to change. Automakers are jumping on board and starting to offer alternatives to meet a growing demand. Sure, we have the Tesla Model X, but that’s really about it for now. That’s why it was so exciting to learn more about the 2019 Jaguar I-Pace SUV at the Orange County Auto Show.

Jaguar is the first major manufacturer to produce a luxury, all-electric SUV. In fact, Tesla better watch out because the I-Pace features a 240-mile range and comes in about $13,000 less than the comparable X 75D. An added bonus is that the rear doors are normal on the 2019 Jaguar I-Pace.

There’s only one model to choose from, the EV 400. This luxury SUV produces 394 horsepower plus 512 pound-foot of torque. It also comes with a 90-kWh battery pack.

In addition, you’ll find three trim levels available: S, SE, and HSE. The all-wheel-drive system helps this SUV to achieve perfect handling and maneuverability as well.

The I-Pace offers nothing less than what you would expect from Jaguar. The cabin is quiet, the materials are all high-quality and there’s plenty of room. The Touch Pro Duo infotainment and vehicle-control system utilize two touchscreens which control everything from the temperature to the drivetrain modes.

All 2019 Jaguar I-Pace SUVs also comes with a system for fast charging. The problem with this right now is that most stations only offer 50kW of charging power, but the I-Pace can accommodate 100kW. As time goes on, more powerful stations will become available, so this is just a temporary setback. Even at 50kW, the I-Pace will charge to 80% within 85 minutes. The plus side is that Jaguar put an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on the battery pack ensuring it maintains a 70% or better capability.

Where the 2019 Jaguar I-Pace Failed

As with any new car, there’s always something that can be improved upon. Thankfully, our beef with the 2019 Jaguar I-Pace is small. We just aren’t a fan of the noise being pumped through the speakers to offer a real-life experience. We get that electric vehicles don’t make the same sound as the conventional car, but do we really need the noises? Thankfully, Jaguar set up a way to disable it.

Tesla might have been the first to bring us an all-electric SUV, but Jaguar raised the bar with extreme luxury. This SUV is sporty, fun, and extremely refined. Battery range is decent, and we’re happy with the power. Now we’ll have to wait and see how well they sell.
