BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe: First Look

We’ve been telling you about the BMW 8-Series for some time now. Between the 2019 BMW 8 Series convertible and the BMW M850i xDrive Coupe, there’s been a lot to get excited about. Now, the automaker released an image of the 8GC that we can’t get enough of. Here’s what we know about the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe.

First Look at the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe

The scheduled date to unveil this beauty is today. Of course, we will prepare more information as it becomes available. However, we have seen some exterior shots as well as the interior. Inside this BMW, there’s room for five. There is also an attractive two-tone color palette, optional twin sunroof panels and a stylish dashboard.

We also see that the automaker decided to continue adding grills behind the front wheels. Still, we find the style compelling and unique.

Current Lineup

As of now, the 8-Series comes in a two-door coupe format only. This M850i XDrive Coupe features a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 and all-wheel drive. Starting prices go well over $110k and we expect that the M850i XDrive Gran Coupe will be priced similarly.

We don’t have a lot of information about the models yet but expect more any moment. With the new debut coming from BMW, we will likely need to create a new post with that data for you. When we do, we will link to the update so you can find the information quickly.

2020 BMW M2 CS: First Look at Performance Enhancements

BMW plans to launch the new M2 coupe and performance-enhanced CS at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show this September. Before the official unveiling, this car has been spotted at Germany’s Nurburgring track. Let’s take a first look at the 2020 BMW M2 CS to see what we are in for.

2020 BMW M2 CS Specs

We expect production of the M2 CS to start in March 2020 and run through December. This tells us that the automaker plans to make it a limited edition model. Furthermore, the CS looks more aggressive than the M1 and M2. It has heavy carbon fiber construction and a mind-blowing 444 horsepower.

Take notice of the large rear spoiler that’s built into the trunk lid. There’s also a more forceful front bumper as well. We expect to see it with carbon ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

The CS comes with a turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six cylinder, just like with the M3 and M4.

M2 CS Interior & Price

Inside the vehicle, you will find light front seats and bare door cards to reduce weight. BMW currently lists the M2 Competition for an MSRP of $58,900. Adding the M double-clutch automatic increases the price $2,900 while the M Driver Package tacks on $2,500. With that in mind, we expect the CS features a price tag around $63,900.

It’s official! The 2019 BMW 8 Series Convertible has been unveiled and we couldn’t be happier. This second model in the lineup is the first convertible version and is sure to make quite the impression on enthusiasts everywhere.

New Beginnings with a 2019 BMW 8 Series Convertible

This four-passenger convertible brings complete revival to the BMW 8 Series badge. It utilizes a classic soft-top that opens or closes in only 15 seconds. You can do this while traveling at 30 mph to make things even easier. The overall design of the 2019  BMW 8 Series convertible doesn’t look much different from the coupe version except it features a rear deck which hides the roof.

The BMW 840d xDrive Convertible comes equipped with a six-cylinder in-line diesel engine that produces 320 horsepower. The other model is the BMW M850i xDrive Convertible that comes complete with a 4.4-liter V8 engine that produces 530 horsepower.

Both of these models come with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. In addition, standard equipment includes an M suspension and active steering. With the V8, you also get an electronically-controlled M Sport differential on the rear axle.

A quick look inside the 2019 BMW 8 Series Convertible reveals availability of BMW’s newest infotainment system, a 10.25-inch display, wireless phone charging plus a Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system. The rear seats feature a 50/50 split and there’s ample cargo space included.

You also gain access to numerous dynamic modes with this vehicle. Choose Adaptive, Eco Pro, Sport, Sport+ or Comfort. These work together to provide lots of functionality for the convertible. From a technology stance, you’ll also have access to the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant when it’s released in March, next year. The Driving Assistant Professional package utilizes Stop & Go function, Active Cruise Control, Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Steering assistant, side collision protection, distance information, evasion aid, Wrong-way warning and more.
