Dirty EcoDiesel Engines from FCA Entitle Owners to $3,075

If you purchased or leased a 2014-2016 Ram 1500 or Jeep Grand Cherokee equipped with an EcoDiesel engine, you might receive up to $3,075 from FCA. This is the result of a class-action lawsuit stemming from dirty EcoDiesel engines from the automaker.

What are the Dirty EcoDiesel Engines?

FCA produced a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel that has caused some difficulty for them. In fact, it caused them to reach an $800 million settlement with the State of California, the EPA and the Department of Justice. The result of this is a payout to customers. Original owners are eligible to receive $3,075. Second-hand owners are also entitled to $2,460. If you have a current or former lease, you are only eligible for $960.

To get your payout, former owners or lessees must submit claims by August 1st. Current owners have until February 3, 2021, but they must also have their vehicle software updated. The deadline for that is May 3, 2021.

So, what is this software update? It’s available within the next few weeks. It won’t change critical attributes such as reliability, performance or fuel economy. During the quick update, FCA plans to supply loaner vehicles at no cost for anything that will take more than three hours.

Filing a Claim

If you want to receive your cash, head to the Eco Diesel Settlement site for more information. There is more detailed data regarding the submission process, benefits and modification. Current owners and lessees must receive the repair from an FCA Authorized Dealer to receive benefits.

You can file the claim online. To do this, you want to head to the Online Claims Portal and enter your VIN. You will also need current vehicle registration, driver’s license copy or other ID. Make sure you submit your claim before you make the Approved Emissions Modification appointment.

More information regarding this settlement will also arrive via email or mail. If you want more details, make sure you visit the Court website.

Unfortunately, emission issues aren’t new to the FCA. They were also involved in the 900,000-vehicle recall we told you about back in March.

 

FCA Launches Super Bowl 2019 Ads for Ram, Jeep and Dodge

With the big game happening this weekend, it makes sense that some car companies decided to release their ads already. We’ve got your first look at the Super Bowl 2019 ads for Ram, Jeep and Dodge. Let’s see what FCA has planned for fans this year.

Let’s kick off the Super Bowl 2019 ads with the offering from Dodge this year. In this FCA ad, you can see Dodge vehicles driving to Atlanta while a rendition of the Charlie Daniels Band song “Devil Went Down To Georgia” plays.

Maybe the big news this year was the unveiling of the Jeep Gladiator. That’s why it makes complete sense for Jeep to highlight this new truck in a spot during the Super Bowl. In the Super Bowl 2019 ad, we see the Gladiator pickup truck beating a junkyard car crusher. This ad was produced in conjunction with DDB.

Finally, we come to the Ram. You spend most of the commercial listening to dialogue regarding past Super Bowl ads. The two cowboys converse about their favorite spots of years gone by. Sadly, they have trouble remembering who they were for. That’s when the camera pans out to reveal the all-new Ram Heavy Duty. The Richards Group helped to make this ad possible.

Other Ads in the Works?

What’s most interesting is that Ford and GM are not expected to release any new advertising for this weekend’s Super Bowl. You would think they would be dying to compete against FCA, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Either that or they simply don’t have the resources to invest right now.

FCA Year-end Campaign Joins Forces With Gwen Stefani, OneRepublic and Kathryn Hahn

The FCA Year-end campaign just launched on TV and social media. The newest campaign includes some famous faces like OneRepublic, Gwen Stefani and Kathryn Hahn. This “Big Finish” campaign is unique for each brand with the hopes of increasing the overall sales during this busy season.

FCA Year-end Campaign – Chrysler

Chrysler used Kathryn Hahn with an original re-imagination of “Jingle Bells” called “Lit Christmas.” This original rap track plays in the Chrysler Pacifica as her and kids go caroling in the neighborhood. This isn’t the first time that Hahn partnered with Chrysler. In fact, they had a television and social media spot together in March as well, plus a campaign during the summer.

FCA Year-end Campaign – Jeep

OneRepublic joined up with Jeep for their second collaboration this year. The “Colorful Christmas” ad features a re-imagined “White Christmas” done by the band. It also includes the entire Jeep lineup and celebrates all the vibrant colors of the season.

FCA Year-end Campaign – Ram

Gwen Stefani released her original track “You Make it Feel Like Christmas” with the help of Ram. In this spot, you see the Ram lineup putting together a life-size gingerbread float. On December 1st, they will film a live follow-up during the 2018 Nashville Christmas Parade where Ram trucks will tow the parade floats, and the life-size gingerbread float as well.

FCA Year-end Campaign – Dodge

In this ad, Dodge uses “Santa Claus is Back in Town” from “We Wish You a Metal Xmas and a Headbanging New Year.” It shows Santa upgrading his fleet to the Dodge lineup. Of course, the Challenger Red Eye is included with its 797 horsepower.

Dodge also plans to launch another social series this December to show the progression of Santa’s sleigh transformation.

FCA Names New Leadership to Jeep, Ram & More

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles released a statement on October 1st listing some shakeups in the leadership department. Among the names given, we’ve been given insight into the new leadership to Jeep, Ram and some other brands as well.

Mike Manley become the CEO of the entire company just a few months ago, but that hasn’t stopped him from changing things around. As you know, Manley was originally being groomed for his position by Sergio Marchionne when he died unexpectedly. At the time, he was the head of both Jeep and Ram but had to take over when Marchionne couldn’t return following a surgery.

New Leadership to Jeep & Ram

The new head of the Jeep brand is Tim Kuniskis. Currently, he is also the Global Head of Alfa Romeo. With that said, Manley feels confident he can handle both the off-road brand and the sleek Italian marque at the same time.

Reid Bigland became Ram’s division head for the second time. If you remember, he ran it from 2013 to 2014. Because of his leadership at the time, the brand grew nearly 50%. The plan is to also keep him in charge of leadership in Canadian operations and U.S. sales also.

Other Leadership Changes

Pietro Gorlier took over as the COO of the company’s EMEA region. In addition, Steve Beahm is assuming the responsibility of leading the North American Mopar brand. He continues to serve as the Head of Dodge, Chrysler and Fiat in North America as well.

Ermanno Ferrari earned the title as the new CEO to Magneti Marelli. Previously, he worked as the Head of their lighting division and in senior levels of the suspension and shock absorber lines. Harald Wester received the spot of COO of Maserati. He will also retain his position as Chief Technology Officer.

The final announcement made introduced Scott Garberding as the Global Chief Manufacturing Officer for FCA. He comes to the table with 30 years of experience working with FCA and leading the manufacturing in North America.

With the new upgrades throughout the brands, including the release of the Jeep Wrangler Diesel, it should be exciting to see how this new leadership pans out.
